We need your help to raise funds towards the costs of the new community sports facility a Norman Park. This project will secure the long term future of the athletics track and provide additional sports facilities as well as bringing all our members ‘under one roof”.
Now that we have gained planning permission, amongst the many tasks we now face is raising sufficient funds to deliver the development to the size and standards we know you would all like.
Whilst we will have significant funds from the proposed sale of the Bourne Way Clubhouse, the Jack Sims Trust and our own reserves, we need to raise additional finance to meet the current funding gap, otherwise we will have to reduce the size of the building resulting in a loss of needed facilities.
We are pleased to be able to report that this year we have secured a major grant from Sport England for the project.
Financial assistance has also been sought from a number of charitable grant making organisations, such as the London Marathon Charitable Trust, however due to the pandemic most have either stopped their funding programmes or re-focused their areas of support for the foreseeable future which has not helped our cause. We continue to look at all possible avenues of funding.
Thanks to those 26 members who have already donated. Their generosity has so far raised over £80,000 (excluding gift aid). Our target is to raise £200,000 from club members to demonstrate our members’ commitment to the project by next March. Can we get get funding up to £100,000 by Christmas?
As well as a lump sum payment now, you may also donate by pledging an amount to be paid next year or donate by instalment e.g. £x per month for x months next year.
In addition, if you are a UK taxpayer and are willing to gift aid your donation, the Club will qualify for an additional 25% from HMRC. Some members may also be able to obtain funds from their employer on a matched giving basis.
All such donations will be ring-fenced into a development fund and a record kept of those who have donated so that they can be suitably recognised in the new facility.
Donations can be made by either cheque or bank transfer. Details are given below, together with a link to a Gift Aid form if you are a UK taxpayer.
Your assistance will be greatly appreciated and benefit the club and generations of athletes in years to come.
