Club 10 Mile Championship Results

Another cold winter’s day did not deter 17 hardy runners, a similar number of volunteers , and even a few spectators from turning out for the annual Club 10 championship, over the two-lap Boundary Woods course (measuring around 9.2 miles).

 

After a week or more of dry weather the going underfoot was pretty good and runners were ‘happy’ in trail shoes, spikes or even road shoes. Perhaps unsurprisingly though, given the same number of tree hazards each lap as runners, we had a couple of fallers. But both Steve Hough and Dave Leal were able to brush themselves down and complete the race. In fact, Steve still managed to win the handicap, making the trip up from Sevenoaks into ULEZ terrritory worthwhile!

 

Tom Desborough won the Mens Champs in just over an hour while Trang Nguyen seemed to smile all the way round on her way to victory in the Ladies Championship.

 

In the season long Bennett Cup, Matt Bullen leads narrowly from Luca Ercolani who was 2^nd in the scratch race and the handicap on the day. But the table doesn’t tell the whole picture, as only Matt, Luca and 3^rd placed Luigi have run all 5 qualifying races so far but the final result is based on the best 6 results from 9 events. As such, both Micah Evans and John Turner (as well as several others) are in serious contention in 4^th and 5^th place from 3 events each. The next event is the 10k Mob Match versus Beckenham Running Club and Striders of Croydon, on a Norman Park HQ’ed course, Sunday 4^th February 1030 start.
