Congratulations to Ian Firla, John Hubbard, Alice and Holly Platt on their election as Vice Presidents of Blackheath and Bromley Harriers AC at last week’s AGM.
Ian Firla has distinguished himself this year by taking a leading role on the organising of the teams for the club’s virtual events. Ian enjoys competing himself as a Masters athlete, and is this year’s Club Marathon Champion.
John Hubbard is the Club’s Track Secretary and was instrumental in the delivery of Open Meetings during the last year. Rising to the challenge of making them Covid compliant. Upon the retirement of PP Mike Davies, John willingly took on the extra role of Officials Secretary.
Alice Platt is a tireless and enthusiastic volunteer. Alice has been a key member of our highly successful social media team, and is also commonly seen lending a hand at Open Meetings, fulfilling a variety of roles.
Finally, Holly Platt, as well as being a fantastic pole vaulter, has been instrumental in developing our social media channels. Holly was deservedly named runner up in the England Athletics Regional Awards for Young Volunteer of the Year.
Nicolas Corry, President of BBHAC noted: “Our Club is a broad community whose success is built on the shoulders of its volunteers. This has taken on a particular importance during 2020/21. I’m sure the Club will join me in recognising the efforts of all of our volunteers, but particularly in welcoming the newly elected VPs, and thanking them for their contribution during this unusual year.”
Congratulations to all four of our new VPs!
