7 February 2026 - The Hague
A group of over 25 club members along with a handful of guests from Petts Wood Runners and Bromley Vets travelled to The Hague in the Netherlands to take part in Zuiderpark Parkrun, securing the letter “Z” for the popular parkrun alphabet challenge.
The group departed on Friday morning, arriving in The Hague in the evening and enjoyed a relaxed meal and drinks together ahead of parkrun day.
On Saturday morning runners made their way to Zuiderpark, with some choosing to run to the start while others made use of the city’s efficient tram network. The event attracted 187 participants, including 83 runners from the UK, giving the morning a strong British presence.
Zuiderpark offers a fast, flat, two-lap course set within a pleasant park environment, and members produced some excellent performances:
- Philip Bunn secured 1st place overall
- Oliver Treasure finished 9th
- James Webber achieved a top-10 placing
- Katy Sugden was 2nd lady
In addition Iain Swatton, Dave Beadle, Jenny Leng (PWR) and Ian Montgomery all completed their alphabet challenge at Zuiderpark.
Following the parkrun, a number of the group took the opportunity to explore The Hague, enjoying a guided tour and taking in the history and character of this attractive city before returning to the UK on Saturday evening.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend that showcased the very best of the club — strong performances, friendship and shared achievement. Thank you to everyone who travelled and took part; your enthusiasm and support made the trip so memorable.
