Thanks to all those who attended our Homecoming event for Sam Reardon and Open Meet last night.

Sam made his return as a double medal winner in the 4 x 400 mixed and men’s relays at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Dressed in the now iconic white Adidas GB tracksuit adorned with both of his deceptively heavy medals, Sam spoke with Past President John Hubbard as crowds gathered on the bank.

The pride and love for Sam was clear as queues stretched down the track with fans, well wishers and fellow athletes waiting to congratulate Sam, get his autograph and pose for pictures with him.

In true Sam fashion he posed, spoke to everyone there and was still smiling and posing for photos with officials, coaches and the last few remaining fans at 10pm, after the open meeting had finished.

Dubbed the ‘Unexpected Olympian’ by the media, those who know Sam from the club always knew something amazing was waiting for Sam, the only thing ‘unexpected’ for us was that he would fight injury and make it to this year’s Olympics!

Congratulations to the team that supports him; dad John, his family, coach Nigel, his team mates, training squad and many many supporters who helped him achieve those dreams.

Huge Congratulations Sam our ‘Expected’ Hero, Role Model and Olympian!
