Pole Vault Development donation (edited)

A heartfelt thank you to James Cunningham, one of our former pole vaulters,  for his generous donation towards our new pole vault mats and equipment. His love for the sport and desire to ensure our facilities continue to support athletes as they reach new heights is a wonderful gift to our club and will benefit generations of vaulters to come.

James is pictured in the middle of the photo, which is from the 80s – with Jim Day and John Wakeman!

James gave his reasons for supporting this initiative.

“While it’s been a few decades since I vaulted, competing for the club from Young Athletes League to British League including in the early days of Norman Park was the core (when I wasn’t being roped into other events to get points) of my athletics career. Fortunately I am in a position to help so it was a bit of a no brainer for me to contribute to the pole vault upgrade works.”

There is clearly room for improvement in the equipment as shown in these photos

The donation came about in response to our email to members seeking sponsorship and fundraising support for the Club.

Contact Steve Pairman (stevepairman13@gmail.com), Mike Crossan, Nigel Bewsher or Steve Rowe to find out more on this initiative.
