Between 13th-25th August 2024 the World Masters Athletics Championships 2024 took place in Gothenburg, Sweden. The club had two athletes in the competition, Louisa Vallins (W45) and Duayne Bovell (M35), neither of which returned empty handed!

Vallins was up first, racing in the 100m on the 13th, the first day of the competition she sped to the finish winning her heat and then her semi-final the following day. With two great races she narrowly placed 4th in the final. Bovell also raced on the 14th, in the 100m, placing first in his heat. On the 15th he raced again in the semi-final making it to the final later the same day.

Both athletes went on to race in the 4x100m relays, returning with gold medals! Louisa unfortunately sustained a concussion which impacted the 200m but not before she had successfully qualified for the semi-final! She then spent some time in well earned bed rest and has made a full recovery.

Well done to both, keep inspiring athletes! We hope to have even more club members attending next year!
