Ted Pepper 10k – May Day Bank Holiday Monday 4th May 2026

👟 We are proud to once again host the annual Edward Pepper Memorial 10k, starting and finishing at the Norman Park Community Sports Centre
• Entry: £23, or £21 for EA registered club runners
• Race start: 9.30am
• Online entries: via England Athletics/RunEvents (open until 26 April) here  – the race is held under UKA regulations and open to runners aged 15+ 

👟 A Children’s Fun Run will start on the track shortly after the 10k, and follow a course of approx 2k in the park
• Entry: £3.50
• Registration: on the day only
• Medal: awarded to all finishers

📝 NUMBER COLLECTION ON THE DAY
All advance entrants should collect their race numbers from the Trackside Café (on the 1st Floor of the Norman Park Community Sports Centre) on the morning of the event
Registration opens: 8.30am
Tip: arrive early to avoid queues
Please bring: your own safety pins if possible
On‑the‑day entries may be available (subject to limits) at £26 — card or cash. To avoid disappointment and help us plan, advance entry is strongly encouraged

🏅 RESULTS, MEDALS, SOCKS
The 10k race is chip timed, with results published shortly after the event

Prizes will be awarded to the first three men and women and all 10k finishers will receive:
• A medal
• A bottle of water
• A fresh pair of running socks

🚗 RACE DAY INFO 
Parking & Transport: Parking available in both Park car parks (Hayes Lane will fill early); bike racks adjacent to the track; buses 119, 146, 314 stop nearby; nearest rail stations Bromley South and Hayes
Baggage: Unmanned baggage storage will be available in the indoor track area (ground floor). Items are left at your own risk — please avoid bringing valuables
Facilities: Toilets on both floors, Changing and showering facilities (ground floor), Trackside Café open all morning

🕊️ RACE HISTORY
Ted Pepper, a Blackheath Harrier, tragically lost his life during the 1978 Three Peaks Race in Yorkshire. The club created this Memorial Race in his honour, with the first edition held in 1979 over a 7‑mile course around Park Langley. Key milestones:
• 1979: First race (7 miles, 3 laps)
• 1991: Distance changed to 10k
• 2012: Course moved to Norman Park

🗺️ THE COURSE
The race begins with 1.5 laps of the track, then heads out onto a mix of:
• Asphalt paths
• Grass paths
• Country tracks
The route is a single lap, mostly out‑and‑back. Please familiarise yourself with the course map below and follow marshal instructions on the day
Footwear:
• Dry conditions → road shoes
• Wet conditions → trail shoes recommended
