24 October 2026 - Norman Park
Results of Champs and Bennett Cup
After a wet few days this week, the earlier that traditional 11am start worked out pretty well as the race was done & dusted before the rain set in properly for the afternoon.
A small but cheerful field of 14 runners found the conditions still firm underfoot with next to no mud. The only drama was a late arrival of a marshal which meant a few of the runners went straight-on initially when they should have been heading out of the park to the Elmfield Wood diamond.
Despite being delayed in this mix up, Carys Firth followed up her strong recent showings at the Kent League to win not just the Women’s Club Championship but also the race against her Dad, Greg. Graeme Lugar was the only ‘sub-30’ finisher and will have his name added to the long list of winners of the illustrious Mens 5 mile Club Championship. Daniel Horgan was first Junior Man and 2nd overall, while his Dad, Barry was 1st on handicap in the Bennett Cup.
