Kent Masters XC Champs, Dartford, 30th November 2024

In ideal conditions for fast cross country racing, Blackheath & Bromley Harriers Ac athletes did not disappoint, picking up medals in all male events and having the winner in the women’s V35 race! The races were again held at the football fields in central park, Dartford, making for repetitive running but great spectators vantage points! M40 and M50s ran over 8.4k and all other races were at the 5.2k distance.

Our two gold medalists were Imogen McLellen (19.45) in the women’s V35 race and 3rd in the overall women’s race, and Andy Lawes (22.32) in the V70 race – Andy would have finished 2nd V60 in the Blackheath team! The other winners were:
M60 silver to Roger Beswick (19.34)
M50 silver to Doug Varney (28.53)
M50 team silver (Doug VARNEY, JAMES WEBBER (31.54), STEVE HOUGH (30.44) plus Chris Fishlock (34.06)
M40 team bronze for Micah Evans (27.06), Leon de Bruyne (27.32), Sam Aldridge (27.55) and Sebastian Jones (29.04)

Well done to all the rest of the team – good to see a strong turnout for these events again this year. Special mention to “unofficial medals” with Jim Phelan being 1st M75 and Katy Sugden 3rd FV50 and Micah Evans 1st MV40(-45).
